Some more heat and alot of vise grip style encouragement. Saying that the
bearing on the inside of the bell has seized on as well. Any ideas why this
happens and how to prevent it in the future?

The bell has just got too hot due to clutch slippage (standard 3 shoe black
HPi teflon clutch I assume?). Vented clutch bells help a lot, as do Alu
shoes (I like Hong Nor Long Life with 1.1mm springs - slipping bit time
reduced).

Replace your clutchbell bearings often! I replace mine whenever I have the
clutchbell off for clutch shoe/spring servicing, engine maintenance, etc.
Even if you have to beat the s&*t out of it to get it off...........all
you're going to ruin is the crankshaft which can be had pretty cheap on
e-bay.
A suggestion.............if you have a dremmel with heavy duty cutting discs
or a jigsaw with a metal blade..........hell, even a sawsall with a "torch"
blade would work...........mount the engine in a vice, clutchbell facing up,
and zip off a side of the upper part of the bell (where the teeth are).
This might crack the bond the bearings have with the crank and allow you to
pop it off.
