Custom Exhaust Help

I have a Hyper 7 buggy that I am mounting an engine in that is made to
fit a Traxas vehicle (It's a TM323 with a TMaxx Mount). After making
my own engine mounting plate, the only thing left is the exhaust.
Since the motor is much shorter than a regular big-block, the exhaust
port on the engine ends up about an inch forward of where it would be
with a standard big-block. This makes the pipe end up way to where it
actualy hits the front tire.
Anyways, does anyone have any experience of guidence on making a
custom header? What would work great is if I could substitute a couple
inches of flexible hose for a header, but don't know what materials
would be suitable. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks

How about using a Revo header and pipe?  Run it perpendicular to and behind
the motor.  Sounds like you should have enough space to do that!

Not enough room back there, the wing mount/rear diff diagonal support
is in the way. . .

Can you hack off an inch of the header?
You could also go with a short pipe..I would suggest a CVEC for Traxxas.

Probably can find one on ebay, just be sure it's the short version..

You bring up a good point............GTD, were you trying to use the
big-block pipe with the Traxxas header and TM323 mill?

Kinda, I just noticed that the existing buggy pipe and header had no
room to be moved forward, , which is where they wouldend up with the
physically shorter motor. One thing I may try is the origonal pipe off
my kid's revo with a buggy header.

You're going to have to use a smallblock header and pipe on that TM323 as it
will be bog city with a big-block header and pipe.  The buggy header
probably won't work on the TM323 anyways as it will be much larger than the
exhaust port on the motor.  The CVEC's as M78 suggested are short lil'
boogers and given that they are adjustable, would probably work with a
smallblock motor and the stock Traxxas header.

I think I have a plan, but there's a chance of it failing: I cut the
TMaxx header that came with the mill right in the middle of the 180
degree bend. I re-attached it at a different angle with a rubber
header-to-pipe coupler. HOPEFULLY, , It won't melt, since it's going
to be only about an inch away from the engine. This way, the TMaxx
pipe can be fit in there. .
I'm waiting on a clutchbell, some bearings, and the weather to warm up
a little to ge thisthing finished and the motor broke in.

Rubber (?) or the standard silicone coupler?  The former will melt, the
latter will be fine.
