I race standard minis at leighton and aylesbury.
leighton are running a gp for minis. there is a class for hopped up ones
though i doubt even a 12x2 is eligible.

Had it out tonight, it doesn't have go some hehe :-) I suspect it's a bit
much for the 11 turn limit ESC tho, cos every now and then when you nail it,
nothing happens for a second, but this might be my shite battery that is old
(waiting on one from Vapex - 4300mah hehe) and abused, or because I haven't
gone to Deans plugs yet - not exactly sure what they are - can anyone give
me an idiots guide?

Deans Ultra connectors give you a simple but quality connection between your
battery and esc. They are good for around 60 amps continuous. Compared to
the white Tamiya type connectors which are good for about 10 amps. The
Deans also last a lot longer. There are better connectors like the Corally
type but they are not idiot proof and I see a lot of guys connect them the
wrong way around when their in a hurry.
I suspect that if you still have the Tamiya type connector that your
probably drawing more current than they can handle with the 12T motor.
The only down side to changing your connectors is that the Deans connectors
are not compatible with your rotostart or Traxxas easystart for all the
nitro gear.

Ah, looking like I'll be doing Dean's connectors if and when the new battery
finally arrives then :-)

The trick is..when you cut off your Tamiya connectors from anything...keep
the ends with a bit of wire on them.
Then make adaptors for your charger, Tamiya to Deans, so you don't have to
cut it.
I have about every combination of adapters by doing this..
Deans "male" to Tamiya "female"
Deans "female" to Tamiya "male"
Deans to Powerpole
etc...
This way you can still use your batteries or even someone elses if need...
You will be able to use your batteries in other Tamiya plug cars and in Roto
Starts..
The thing that screws most Tamiya plugs is plugging and unplugging alot.
With the adapters, you wont be unplugging them alot from your charger.
I think Tower even sells them now...but they are easy to make when you
convert over your batteries and car.

Another nice thing is alot of batteries you can now purchase with Deans
already on them.
If the Deans plugs get hard to put together or take apart, simply put a
little powdered graphite on them.
When unplugging don't pull by the wires. The tips of your fingers and thumbs
should have pressure on the red casing ends of the Deans, not the wires.
HTH
Cool..sounds fun!
Been a bit cold and rainy here past week or so...itchin' for some nitro
action..
Just been flyin my 2 new Air Hogs Havoc Mini Helicopters (same as Picco Z's)
around the house.

I love building the Tamiya kits, their pretty cheap and simple but you get a
little satisfaction from knowing that you built it and it runs great.
Stuff the front diff with some heavy lube or that motor will kill the gears,
it also improves the handling a little. I hope you got bearing for it as it
will be wanting a set really quickly with that motor. Front tyre wear will
be quick too.
I only use mine for playing because they only race the Mini's with stock 540
motors and their pretty boring with that motor in them. I've painted it
British Racing green but have never painted the roof as I cant decide wether
I want a British flag or just a plain white top.
I haven't had the nitro trucks out for a bash for a few months now as I have
been concentrating on the electric off road scene and learning to fly my
helicopters. We've had 4 major state events on in the last 2 months and
another one next weekend.
I'm trying to get the missus to race in a major novice event with prize
money ($300 for 1st) which is going to be held over two weekends at my local
track.

Only ran till my crap 1300mah battery ran out (about 5 mins, maybe less...)
and there is slight tyre wear showing already ha! Yea it's all bearinged
up, I put quite a bit of grease in the front diff IIRC as well...
