Hi group,

Getting back into this hobby once again. Was really into this as a
youth, and the years took me in other directions. Was at the flea
market a few weeks back and purchased one mans junk for 70 bucks!

By the time I was done with all the pieces stuffed into the two
kyosho field bags, I ended up with three boxes of field parts, four
assembled vehicles, two good radio transmitters, enough electronics
for all four vehicles less one speed control, two chargers (one peak,
one timed) and some other tidbits. Not bad for 70 bucks and a days
work.

It's a real nostalgiafest too! Novak/futaba ESC's from the past, slot
machine motors, reedy motors, viper, etc. A kyosho ultima 1st gen,
kyosho salute 4wd (this one is pretty badass!), a LOSI buggy I am
still trying to identify, and a rc10 1st gen turned truggy with
stealth tranny! Old school to the core, thats for sure.

At any rate I'm having enough fun with them to have regained
interest. But I don't see a whole lot of posts regarding my location
and places to race, clubs, etc. Was hopeing some lurkers would speak
up. I need places to go, and people to meet :)

I am considering selling most of this stuff to purchase a newer more
supported vehicle. So introduction to clubs and swap meets would be
great too!

Let me know, I am in the North Hills of PGH PA.

I know this one is 200 miles from you but the guys there can point you
to tracks and clubs closer to Pittsburgh:

oh yeah...your subject "PGH PA"....I'm guessing not everyone knows you
are talking about Pittsburg, Pennsylvania when using that acronym....

Kenji,

Thanks for your reply. Rctech.net is a good reference and I have been
browsing casually since I found it. Unfortunatley pittrc.com is
Pitsburg Kansas. You are correct to assume I am from Pittsburgh
Pennsylvania. The hobby used to be HUGE here in the late 80's and
early 90's and since then even my local park got rid of the only
decent place to run a truck or buggy (the BMX track!)

Fortunately I maintained a lot of childhood friendships to this day
so I can just drag a few of them back into it with me :D But we still
have to find a place to bash that we won't get the boot from. New home
plan construction sites used to be great, but now any time you show up
at one the police are there thinking your caseing the joint! And of
course suburbia yields good amounts of grass yards, and I prefer soil.
So things will be interesting.

My current collection since about a month ago -

Original Tamiya clodbuster (barely used, awesome find!)
RC10 truck conversion w/stealth and drilled aluminum tub. Lots of
extras!
Kyosho Optima Mid (LOVE this 4wd buggy!, lots of aftermarket on this
too)
RC10 buggy w/graphite (still need to polish this one up)
Kyosho classic ultima (good basher car!)
Kyosho tracker, which is just a newish (90's lol) basher truck..

And a nikko RC boat I've been toying with.. _seriously_ toying
with ;)

And of course all of this is a LOT more fun now that I have 18 years
of component level electronics under my belt. I've already built my
own ESC and tuned a motor. I didn't think it could be this fun again,
but I guess the nostalgia coupled with the newfound (and useful)
knowledge is making for an awesome combo! Now I just need a good local
club to exchange ideas in.
