Hi,
I am getting into RC for the first time with my grandsons. They are 3,
5, and 6 - and I have a 49Mghz Spiderman 6V that has been great fun. I
am ready now to invest is something more fun (for me?) - I have looked
at websites, but haven't found advice. What is the most powerful
batteries now? 6 AA's? My powertools are over 19.2V now, just can't find
if they have moved those powerful batteries to RC.
I'd like off road, as the big tires excite those little boys and they
like to crash a lot. (no surprise there, ugh?)
I'm willing to spend $100-$200 or more, but not sure if anyone can
recommend a model or even a brand. Traxxas?

My Spiderman is 49Mghz, I assume I have to have different frequencies
(see how newbie I am?) for each vehicle, right?

I did look over the forum and learned some tidbits, but any pointers
would be appreciated. DAve

seeing how old they are I'd recommend 1/18th scale:

Make sure if you buy three of them that all of them are on a different
channel before purchasing. This insures you can run all three at the
same time.

If you are only going to buy one of them get teomore sets of batteries.
You'll have enough runtime for all four of you.

Not sure how many of them you'd be buying but I'd also recommend not
using the charger that's included with the above but get this

THANKS! The links and suggestions are great.

Yesterday I actually found a like-new used Traxxas BANDIT!
What fun! FAST! I also like the Stampede you pointed too, maybe I need
more? smile.

The links provided at Tower Hobbies are pretty good. Don't worry so
much about the voltage. Most model cars do not require the torqe your
19.2v drill does. Most 1/10th scale r/c's run on 7.2 volts.

When i was deployed to Iraq i purchased the duratrax evader.
http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0161p?&I=LZ1052**
That link is the "Tower hobbies ultimate combo" It litterally gives
you everything you need to make the car go.

Its a nice little battery powered stadium truck. The tires do give it
a mini-monster truck feel. These trucks are a bit light, the plastic
is a bit weak, but traxxas has a 1 year stress parts garantee, and all
you have to do is call them and tell them a part broke and they send
it right away. I usually got mine in a week, and that was in Iraq,
mind you.  Repairs were super easy, my commander could do it!!!

Its a very good Newbie truck, it is easily upgradeable and low
maintenance. Myself, my commander, and my NCO all bought one, we had a
blast with them all year. They all still work great, although mine has
been severely modified for speed.

The two batteries included will give you about 10 minutes per. You can
upgrade to 2400mAh or even 3600, that will give you a considerable
amount of run time.

If you are looking for something more advanced, but still ready for
imediate use, you could go with the Traxxas E-Maxx.
http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&P=SM&I=LXVS28**
My 1ST Sergeant bought this one. Its a monster. Fast, strong, and can
run over most other trucks, including out Evaders. Tower doesnt have a
combo, so you would need to buy batteries and a charger. THis truck
requires 2 packs, and runs on 14.4 volts. It has some torque.  I
recomend these, http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXCUH3&P=ML
They are 3000mAh so it will give you a good run time, and is made by
Orion, so they are quality. I recomend this charger,
http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXD548&P=M
It only does one battery at a time, but it is low cost and highly
effective. It charges each pack in about 25-30 mins.

If i can be any more help, please, don hesitate to email me.

Sorry, i mentioned traxxas having a 1 year stress parts garantee, its
actually duratrax. THey are the ones who make the first mentioned car,
not traxxas. Traxxas makes the 2nd one, the E-Maxx/
