i used to own and race an electric RC10 back around 1988-90ish... i still
have the car (and it still works)...
now i have a kid and im trying to find father-son activities... i went to an
RC race track and watched the new nitros... after doing some research i went
out and bought the Revo 3.3.. my first nitro machine..
the problem is i STINK when it comes to carburetors!.. im at a total loss..
i can get it to start, but then it dies after 10 seconds.. if i can keep the
thing running and i try to give it some gas it acts like the transmission
isn't engaging (slip clutch?)...
the salesman at Hobby Town said these carbs are a piece of cake... so far,
it has only made me miss my electric RC10...
im sure i'll get the bugs chased out of it (or find someone who can help me)
but in the mean time i had to blow off some steam...

Nitro tuning advice is hard to give over a forum - but if you go back to the
track there will be someone who is willing to show you the ropes. IME this
is the most friendly hobby there is :-) Once you've got it sorted, you'll
have a blast, the Revo is a great truck. Also, have you watched the Traxxas
DVD that comes with the Revo? They're very helpful, as is the instruction
manual.

Don't tune the mid or idle screw factory setting should be fine. Turn
the high needle in all the way then turn it out 2 1/2 turns out. It
should run ok for breaking in. After a tank or two turn in the high
needle a half a turn in .You want to be able to see smoke out of the
pipe. The revo is a great choice.

Sorry, but my advice is to cut your losses now and buy two electric cars
(i.e., B4, T4, etc) you can work on and drive together. If you are
frustrated, think how your son will feel. He has a lot of learning to
do already and tuning an engine will just add to the list. There's
plenty of time for that later after he learns how to drive and wrench on
the electric.

Go back to electric enjoy and wath you have missed in the '80
choose ...20Min of runtime. with a 4200mAh pack ( your last was proably a
1000 or 1200 )
or have endless power without cleaning coms go for a mild brushless like LRP
hase now.
And pull a 5min sprint out of the 4200mAh (
Team Associates still rocks
B4, B44 or a TC5.
TM
ps GP 4600 mAh are available to

I have a nitro rustler and two electric Stampedes and one Rustler. My
kids, 5 and 7 love the electric trucks. They are easy to maintain and
inexpensive. The last thing a kid wants is to sit there listening to
the motor not start for half an hour. .. :)
