my 1/10 scale tamiya S10 4wd electric car went into the swimming pool- a real
bonehead move. It was only submerged for a few seconds but I think some
damage has been done. I am running Tower hobbies 2TXP radio w/ duratrax auto
sport electronic speed control. After drying out the car I can see that the
speed control will not power up. When powering on the car will make a noise
and the wheels will turn a little on there own but it won't respond to the
controls- after 5 seconds the car goes dead . I unhooked the speed control
and hooked up a separate 4XAA battery pack to the receiver and the steering
servo appeared to work normally.

So, is the speed control completely toast or is there any way to repair it?
I am surprised that the electronics are working at all, I figured the whole
car was toast...anybody else dunk there car and restore it back to original
condition?

You will need a new speed control. Its shot water and electric don't go
well.        Rob

You could try taking apart the ESC and spray the internal circuit board with
WD-40 or Electronic Spray and lightly rub/clean it with a toothbrush.
Let it dry put it back together and try it.  Worked for a watersoaked
Reciever for me.
