I kinda want to have an electric buggy, but I haven't found any electric
kits that look all that appealing. are there any kits for converting a
buggy, something like an 8ight, hyper7, or a kyosho buggy to electric,
preferably brushless? I've seen kits for the Revo, but no buggies.
Thanks, Greg.

i've been looking for the same thing.  so far this is all i have found.  it
isn't a kit, just an article.  but it means that it is, in fact, possible.

Check out http://www.finedesignrc.com/

Their forte is RC boats, but branching out to nitro to electric
conversions in rc cars...

I stopped by the local Hobby Town and asked the owner if they have a kit to
make the Losi 8ight or the RC8 into electric.  He said no and that I wasn't
the first person to ask.  He said he read an article and some guy converted
a buggy and the total bill was around $2500.  A little too steep for me.

So I'm getting ready to move to KC.  I've been pounding the internet trying
to find nearby tracks.  (I really like racing and don't want to just bash
around my backyard)  They have some excellent tracks down there but most
about 45 minutes out of town.  The ones that are in town say "outside dirt
track for electric only".  I guess noise ordinances?  (don't even get me
started on how kids with their loud stereos thumping down the street or
people with Harleys so loud you can hear them blocks away seem to slide
under the radar!!)  So what is the 2WD electric buggy that is suitable and
durable enough to take to competitions?  Since converting nitro to electric
might be out of reach, what is the weapon of choice in the electric buggy
category?

I assume you mean 1/10 electric buggy?

Losi XXX-CR or Associated B4. I don't think there is anything else that
compares to these two. The competition between the two is fierce and there
will be opinions for which of the two is better but IMO the only real
difference is the availability of parts for either buggy.

Team Novak is even getting on the band wagon and have introduce a Brushless
conversion kit for several buggies.
