Alright, I have a little radio shack truck, and the battery is rated
for 7.2V and 1700MAH, well, i got a meter running at the battery side
of the connection ont he charger. When charging it peaks at about
9volts, sounds right I guess, but when it shuts off (the charger
cycles, on... off.... on...) the battery drops down about to 6.5V, I
cant seem to get over that, so i am pretty sure the batterys done for.
the problem is, the battery was working fine, for a while, no fading
in performance, then I left the battery in the truck for about 2 days
with it on (oops) and now the battery wont charge.
So did the truck somehow ruin the battery

Try a different charger.

Sounds like one of the cells has died on you. Possibly a victim of "cell
reversal" which can occur when a battery pack is discharged to the max. If
a cell within a pack is significantly weaker then the other cells, it will
discharge completely before the better cells. It can then take on a
"reverse polarity" due to the current flowing through it from the cells with
remaining power. The cell is then generally junk, although there are
methods that may revive it, at least in the short run.

Well if I runa meter accross the wires i get 6 volts, so I figure a
cell is dead. How do you "revive" them, I really wish this didnt
happen...
Also as a side note, where can I get real cheap 7.2V battery packs?

Venom is marketing 3000mah stick packs for about 25.00 at your LHS,
that come with a tamiya style connector.
Dynamite is selling their FunPack 3000, at your LHS for about
29.00/each.
those two are the best bang for your buck if you want to walk into a
hobby shop and buy over the counter.

Depends on how cheap you want. HobbyPeople sell some 7.2V packs for as
low as $8.99. I do not know how well they work in a cheap RC car as I
use one in my electric starter for my nitro truck.

Ya, im gonna buy a new one. But thing I dont knwo is the battery I
have now is a 7.2V 1700Mah whats he difference between that and a
3000mah? More power?

Just lasts longer. A decent battery will also have a flatter discharge
curve meaning it holds voltage stable right to the end when it finally
drops off. A cheap battery will have a steep curve with voltage
tapering off right from the start.

So I checked out those batterys that are 8.99, I was thinking that my
old battery was a 1700mah, and these are 1500mah, But i can get 3 for
the price of one radioshack job. So with a 1500mah, it wont be too
much fo a difference right? Even if it is, I will have three
