Or, it sounds to me like your motors might be getting beat and losing
magnetic power.
Weak magnets allow much more current to go through the motor, and this
generates heat at the batteries. It also makes the motor get hot,
which kills the magnets further.
Heat is DEATH for magnets.
I use the 1900 Pirahna packs and they do get warm, but I think it's
because the runtimes are pretty long. Run a pack for 5 minutes only
and see if it's as warm as if you run it for 8 minutes...............
Make sure you don't run a car through the grass. Keep everything
cleaned and lubed and good racing to you!

Generaly batteries get hot when charging, and uncharging. depending on how
cheap i have noticed i am able to make the shrink tube on the battery back
shrink a bit more, and simply not fit any more... i havent noticed any
problems with it other then that tho, offcourse, the more heat they cary,
the more likely they are to start leaking, or in otherways take some
damage.. heat is never "good". i honestly dont know what you could do in
your case, i have my battery pack set up in my lazer so that the air has a
bit more movement over the batteries now then it had b4, it keeps the temp
down a klittle, but i have not really noticed that much of a difference...
Im more worried about my fuses and so on, then the actuall battery pack...
seams i cant go out and drive any more, without having a spare 10amp fuse
with me, for a old orange omega engine, that is a bitt much... Guess i need
a new one... *- )
