I've got a T-Max which I've had for a couple of weeks now, really enjoying
it (my first nitro r/c model) now that it's run in properly.

In the manual and on the Traxxas web site them emphasise that you should
always stick to the same nitro content fuel that you ran in on.  I.e. if you
ran in on 10% always use 10%.

Just wondering what the reason for this is? I bought some 10% fuel with the
model so thats what I've been using, is there any advantage of using 20%
content fuel and whats likely to happen should I switch when I've used up
what I have?

Just for fun I made a small video clip of my T-Maxx doing some donuts:

MOV format)

Different fuels burn with varying levels of heat, power and lubrication.
Essentially, the piston and cylinder will 'fit' themselves gradually at break-in, until
youve reached your rough running tune. That rough tune gives you a small range of running
temp and lubricity.
Go and change that, and you'll have to briefly break it in again so the engine will fit to
the new fuel properties. Remember that the aluminum piston and brass cyl expand at
different rates. You wanna be running at the perfect temp to get lotsa compression without
wearing out the bore.

Some say all this is a load of crap - just use whatever fuel is on sale.
Personally, i stick to Blue thunder 20%
I wouldnt object to running something different, i'd just go easy on it for a few tanks.
