I don't have a link to a diagram, and I'm terrible at describing these
things, but here goes.
The driving gears have two gears side by side of different sizes. That's
gear 1 and gear 2. The driven gears also have two receiving gears, so you
get two shafts with side by side gears at different ratios. The driving
gears are locked to the driving shaft. The driven gears have the lower gear
on a one-way bearing and the higher on a free bearing. There's a
centrifugal clutch in the high gear. When the rpm is low, only the low gear
will turn the shaft with the one way bearing. When the rpms get high
enough, the centrifugal clutch engages the high gear. The clutch is mated
to the output shaft, and when it engages, the high gear is now the driving
gear, and the low gear is freewheeling faster than the output shaft thanks
to the one-way bearing.
That's the best I can do.

should be good haha

Screw that. Look on ebay for a used tmaxx transmission.

This may (or may not help.) Here is an exploded view of a truck that
has a 2-speed transmission in it:

This may also help.

Good luck and hope this helps.

what kind of range of rpm's can this shift over or is it pretty much
infinatly adjustable?

as far as what springs you can find for that size and what weights you can
get to fit in there, The two speed is infinitely adjustable for RPM
engagement.
