Controller for Tyco (Scorcher 6x6)

Hi NG,

I found an old tyco scorcher 6x6 6.0V in a bunch of toys of my five years
old daughter. There was no controller and accu with it. Grandma brought it,
thought it was damaged and could not imagine the use of the controller and
accu, so these parts are realy gone.

I thought that all these Toyco-27MHz-devices from those days may use the
same or even a similar controller, so I bought a worn out Tantrum to use its
controller, but no reaction (only a little rattle in the wheels).

Could someone give me some details on the controller of the old scorcher?
Perhaps the exact frequency, the modulation (am/fm) and the kind of payload
signals - are they proportional or not, e.g. only full forward full backward
or are different speeds possible.

Even the numbers on the controller or on the indide board or the chips and
the quarz may help alot.

Thanks in advance

PS: I think, the scorcher is an older one because it is labeled 6x6 while
later ones are labeled 4x6 it has a german BZT-Number on it, so it must be
after 1992 (Number starts with G 111 while the one of the Tantrum starts
with G131)

Looks like it is set to 27,145 MHz.

I used an ancient CB-Radion to play around. The Tantrum controller makes
noises which sound a bit like FM or frequency key shifting. I rememgerd that
my old AM-Controls used some sinus waves in voice band to set the
proportional values by amplitude change. So I tried to whistle and humm to
trigger the different actions :-) and it worked for three off the four
funktions - no proportions, I think. So I assume that there where four
payload frequencies to trigger the four funktions (forward backward for each
side).

Is there any Information on the Part Numbering with which I could identify
the right controller? Or even information on the payload frequencies?

Thanks in advance

Mike
