Heya guys and gals!

WhiteWolf here (used to be freenet.carleton.ca)

Remember when we tried to get the major RC body makers to consider
Max's Interceptor? And they laughed at us? (or me, as I think I did
most of the mailing)

Well, I've DONE It! I mentioned it to someone that does small custom
jobs, and he thought it was a wonderful idea, and wanted links to the
car... I found out Monsters In Motion is advertising a 1/24
Interceptor out This Month, for about $40 US. I'm hoping its good
enough for the maker to scale up.

To that end, I want to give him further incentive by telling him how
many of us would want one of the Interceptor bodies! Speak up guys &
gals, cause THIS is our ~best chance to get one short of that Mini-Z
one (that is almost too cute to risk bashing up!)

WhiteWolf McBride,
who wants an Interceptor if he has to fund the prototype himself!!

Count me in!

It's just a Falcon Interceptor, btw... (XD i *think*).  Ford Australia
would be able (though willing?) to help with info.  Those cars *are*
still available too (full size, I mean) though they are damn rare.
Really there was nothing particularly special about it - it was hardly
some exotic supercar.  ;)

If anyone's making a shell of that 6-wheel "thing" from MM, i'll have
one of them too thanks.  Actually make that two, i suspect the
everyday driver one would have a, erm, tough life.  ;)

You aren't quite correct...

I did my research for the body maker (based on over a dozen sites)
including the restoration of the one remaining 'Pursuit Special'
(there were 2, one was wrecked at the end of #2) and data from the
makers of the cars for the movie. Ford Auz wasn't involved.

It was a '73 Ford Falcon XB GT (there were XA, XB & XC models)(the
yellow MFP cars were gently altered XB's) and altered from there with
'zoomie' sidepipes, a van spoiler for the roof, and what was called a
'Concorde' (later tagged a 'Monza') front end kit. The restored
original is in the Cars of the Stars collection in England
(www.carsofthestars.com) and this is the site of Max-Movie lovers:
www.madmaxmovies.com

The 'Interceptors' you are thinking are Victoria Police ones, which
were also Falcon XB sedans. The one used in the movie was probably a
'74. And even that wasn't stock, having had the new yellow/red/blue
'MFP' paint, roof spoiler, and a slightly different lightbar.

There were at least 3 MFP cars, but both Big Bopper's ('Pursuit' on
trunk, ex-taxi) and March Hare's ('Interceptor' on trunk, ex-police)
had yellow rims, and both went to the crusher after their scenes.
Max's yellow 'Interceptor' with its slightly different striping &
silver 'Sunraysia' rims, plus Max's name (M. Rockatansky) on the side,
is still 'MIA'.

I'll let people know where to find pictures of the body as soon as the
repro is ready for sale. With a bit of skill it can be done as either
Max's MFP 'Interceptor' or the black 'Pursuit Special' (there are
lotsa docs online for doing either car up)

I'm a bit disappointed there is only one follow-up though...
