Battery Question

Hi,

I have had a Traxxas E-Maxx for about 6wks now. A few weeks ago,
performance dropped off (no wheelies, short battery run time) so i
removed/cleaned (electrical cleaner spray) the motors and things were
back to normal. After a few more runs, I find the same proble, but
cleaning doesn't help much. Another thing I noticed is that my MRC
SuperBrain 819 charger hits 'peak' early and switched to 'trickle'
after only 5 minutes or so. I always discharge the batteries (running
the truck till it slows/stops) and let them cool. This happens
w/several different sets of batteries - duratrax, venom, and another
brand that i can't remember right now. The batteries are 1500-2000
mah.

Any advice welcome.

When the e-maxx was running as intended, it was a blast!

The Titan motors are pretty tough, but it's possible to wear them out,
especially if you're popping wheelies all the time :-)

Also, double-check the solder connections for the motor wires. I found
that the stock solder joints were fairly poor.

That's not good. Sounds like a charger problem.

Thanks, Rick!

I tried a new set of batteries (2 x dynamite 1500s) and a new charger
(a dynamite Mega-2) and all seems to be well. Wheelies again and much
more run time.

I wanted a second charger anyway for all the batteries I have, and I
like
the mega-2's features... an amp meter, a timer, discharge function,
voltmeter output, trickle charge feature. Only $35 as well!
