Trailer for E-Maxx?

Hi,

I run my E-Maxx at a nearby park (1/4 mile away) and I often just
'drive' it there. I carry my extra battery packs which is really no
problem. What I was considering as a fun winter project was building a
small trailer for the truck.
The trailer would carry the batteries and maybe some tools. I'd like
to use parts from an old/wrecked car or maybe a 'toy' car/truck - I'll
be checking garage sales. My questions are: Has anybody done something
like this, and would it put an excessive strain on my truck's
drivetrain? I plan on making it lightweight (aluminum construction
would be great) and balanced. Any ideas on where to get parts (like
solid axles and relatively hard tires)

Thanks,

Mike

You could always like you said get a little toy RC, but also something
like a knockoff tonka would have some solid axels. Also, sounds like a
fun project.

The E-Maxx could probably pull a child in a red wagon without
excessive strain on the drivetrain.

Aircraft landing wheels and solid bar stock would probably work
fine. Use some collets to hold the wheels in place, and you're set.

Harbor freight had a real cute little wagon last time I was there.

Shouldn't put any extra strain on your drivetrain at all, use whatever
materials you can get your hands on to make a basic trailer, Balsa/Ply
should do for the body part and maybe as you suggest, old car parts for the
axles. If you can get it in your part of the world, have a look at Meccano
stuff for axles etc.

My nephew wants to do exactly the same to transport his I/C engined Subaru
Imprezza about...and then he wants to drive it off the trailer...!!!

Thanks, Dirk... That gave me a bunch of ideas to work with. I like the
5th wheel concept, that might work well. I have an old rusty Tonka in
the backyard, time to take it apart!!!
