Hi, further to earlier post on the Baja Champ and pinion, looking for some
general speed tips.

Took the standard champ and ballraced it.  Fitted 20 turn ESC (Mtronik
ECO20) and the Tamiya 23 turn Sport Tuned Motor.

Would like to get a little more out of it, but better motors are pricey, and
Im limited in fitting due to the TL01B chassis.

Someone has advised the sport tuned gears, and I wonder how much difference
they would make (different ratio I believe).  In addition, should I consider
this in conjunction with larger pinion.  As I can get both of these for
about £10, this is a lot cheaper than a further motor upgrade.

I presume carbon drive shaft and gear shafts aint gonna make a whole heap of
difference?

Good/good/ok. the esc and bearings are must-haves. The motor you probably paid too much
for because its tamiya brand

it'll make a big difference. with a 19t pinion, your at 8:1
with the gears, your at 6:1

maybe get a bigger pinion - or both if you can afford it, but by gearing for that much
speed, you'll probably get the motor too hot, and your acceleration will suffer.
Experiment.
BTW, a decent basher motor isnt expensive, but now your limited to 20 turns because of
your esc. For 3 less turns it wouldnt really be worth it.

Nope. spend your money on another battery pack or something useful.
Good luck, mike

Superb response, thanks a lot. If only all news replies were like this!

Think I'll get the tuned gears, and possibly experiment up a notch with the
pinion.  Can get both in UK for about £6 each, so not really a budget issue.

Thanks
