If you are occasionally racing, get the RC10GT. Get it as a kit for the
knowledge assembling it will give you. Install something along the lines of
an O.S.15 engine in it, as they are easy to tune and reliable. However, if
you are comfortable building kits already, you could get the RTR as the
engine is perfectly fine and has good power- just remember to locktite all
the screws going into metal.
I like the Rustler, too- but it is best suited for bashing, not racing.

Unless ROAR has changed the rules recently, the .15's are not legal for
sanctioned racing. Has to be a .12.

Correct.
Besides, there are .12's out there that will totally BLOW-AWAY the O.S .15
While I like the Rustler...
I agree about getting the RC10GT.
Much more race-worthy than the Rustler. The 10gt is available as a kit, and I
really never liked the Traxxas engines... any of 'em.... or that POS "EZ" Start
system.

The one on the 2.5 is a good deal more robust than the system on the
Pro 15 and earlier engines, IME.
I'm intrigued by the recent trend toward drill starters; I really like
that idea. Moves the weight off the model and will give me an excuse
to buy a decent cordless drill. :-)
