HPI Nitro RS4 3 Evo - Gearing Options

Hey there,

I have a Nitro RS4 3 Evo.  This is my first Nitro car and my first RC car in
a long time.  I love the runtime compared to the electric cars I used to
run.  This thing gets a lot dirtier though.  I guess that's to be expected
with the 2 stroke motor.  It's still a lot of fun and easy enough to clean
up.

I've managed to strip the spur gears.  That's also to be expected running in
a parking lot.  I've replaced it but while I was ordering the replacement
and a few spares I noticed there were quite a few different spur gears as
well as pinion gears to choose from.  I just replaced the brokend parts with
what came with the car but I'd like to experiment and see how much fast I
could make this car by changing the gears.

Neither the car nor the gears I ordered came with any info on the different
gearing options.  I assume different pairs of spur gears have to be mated up
with different sets of pinion gears.  This is the part I could use some
guidance on.

Thanks in advance.

Charlie

Charlie,

Using a larger spur gear (more teeth) will give a little more torque but
loose a little top end speed.

Using a smaller spur will give more top end speed but may slow
excelleration a bit.

Thanks for the feedback Robert.

I've been playing with different gearing options.  I was originally shooting
for more top speed but found the greater acceleration was even cooler.  I
can spin all four tires like crazy now.
