Hello, I was into r/c hobbies many years ago and recently got back
into it.  I came across an old motor I have that I am assuming was
manufactured by Yokomo.  All it says is Yokomo MOD, and has a bright
pink sticker on it that says Pocket Rocket.  I am guessing it is from
around 1988 - 89 .  It seems to be in good shape and I was wanting to
put it on one of my newer cars... maybe some new brushes and a good
cleaning and it will be ready to go!   Anyone have any specs on this
thing?  Turns...etc... ??

Thanks!

Well, I could be wrong, but I believe that the Pocket Rocket was
actually sold by Twister(the "Yokomo" you see on the endbell is simply
where they sourced the parts, just like Reedy does & likewise all
Trinity motors have the name EPIC on them, which is where they source
their parts from). If I remember correctly, the Pocket Rocket was a 17
turn single wind, with bushings & a tabbed endbell(no idea how much
timing it has, though, it's just been too long since I saw one). I'd
guess that as long as the comm is in decent shape(just go ahead & pop
the tabs to remove the endbell, so you can check & retrue the
commutator), it wouldn't hurt to try rebuilding it, replacing the
brushes & giving it a try.....:)

I checked my old RCCA mags and yes the Twister Pocket Rocket was made
in a 17 turn version but also others. There were 17,19 turns with
bushings/fixed timing and 15,20 turns with bearings/adj timing.
 Plus a stock motor too.

Excellent!  Thank you for checking on that!
