Which car for a new driver?

Recently I visited an old friend who owns a nitro powered monster
truck.  Very cool.  Now I have gotten the bug and am planning to buy a
radio controlled car - the question is which one?

The truck was fun, but requires a lot of space.  I would really prefer
something I could use inside the house.  After a bit of searching on
the net models I am considering are:
mini z
mini z overland
micro RS4
Losi mini T

Are these suitable for indoor use?
Would the mini z have enough ground clearance for normal indoor
surfaces?
How much ground clearance does the RS4 have?
Are the RS4 and mini T too fast to use inside?
What sort of turning circle do they have?
If they are too quick for inside, how would they go on the average
driveway?
Are there any others I should look at?

I would also prefer to build the model myself - for me tinkering is at
least half the fun!

Any suggestions/comments apreciated.

Thanks in advance

I run a Mini-T around the office between cubes and have a blast.

A rung down, I also have one of those RS Xmods which is fun on the
office carpet, too.

take a look at the xmods from radioshack if your thinking about the
mini-z, they are hobby quality and only $50
