Aircraft radios commonly have 6+ channels. Mine has 7.
I can't address the legality of such a use.

I'm pretty sure aircraft radios area superset of land radios. In other
words, you can use an aircraft radio for surface use.

If it's 72 mhz, it's illegal for ground use. I wouldn't want a haircut from
a out of control plane anyway...
75mhz, 27mhz, 50mhz is all ok for ground use.
Futaba 9cap, comes in 75mhz for surface use. You can actually use any Futaba
9uap, 8uap, 7uap, 5uap, and for that matter any U series radio. Just swap
the 72MHZ RF module, snaps into the back of the radio, and get a 75MHZ
module and 8CH 75MHZ receiver. Check Tower for them.
