Chargin' my Stampede

Hi,

I've been experimenting with peak detection settings on my Piranha digital
charger. When I charge my Epic 3000 pack, it always peaks at about 3200 mah,
is that normal? And the battery wasn't dead empty to begin with. And this is
with the lowest peak setting of 3 mv/c. I know the higher the charge rate
the less sensitivity needed, I'm stuck with 3 amps on AC power.

You know, I'm getting a little bored already, not so much with the
performance of my Stampede, although a better motor would be nice, but the
waiting issue. I mean it takes 70 minutes to charge that battery in my
house, for about a 10 minute ride. I love running that thing, I want to do
it an hour a day! Did I buy the wrong charger? Do I need a rack full of
chargers going at once, we're talkin' $$ there. I could dump more money in
this project, or just have this as my backup and go nitro.

buy more batteries and keep them charged, peak them before running.

As soon as the weather warms up, and you can run outdoors, Nitro will be the
way to go.
Don't get me wrong, the elec. Stampede is fun, but you will love the speed,
sound, smell, and unlimited running that Nitro can provide.
Nitro comes with a whole new set of problems and difficulties, but to me, it's
worth it.
Once you get the hang of engine tuning, and get past the regular cleaning, and
upkeep of a nitro vehicle... it's a blast.
After you factor in the cost of batteries, motors, and a charger... nitro costs
about the same as electric RC.

Do you think I should try to sell this gear? I won't get nearly what I paid
for it. Or should I save it as a truck that people can use when they come
over?

Heck no... the 'Pede is a great truck.

Nope, just hang on to it and have fun with it when the cold, rain, and snow
will not permit outdoor running.
Get yourself a nice Nitro truck for the warmer weather.
You may as well get used to the idea that you're gonna own a FEW of these
things, and bear all the costs involved...
.........welcome to the dark side.
Building a kit could be a good winter project for you.
About every year, I  buy myself a new kit for Christmas. I build it over the
winter, in order to have it ready for the spring.
I'm building a new RC10GT factory team this winter, and just now shopping for a
new engine for it.
Buying the kit, the engine, and then the radio... spread over time, makes the
hit on your wallet a little easier.

Well, you can do what you want with YOUR friends.
I usually dont let friends drive MY RC's, unless I'm ready to run out to the
LHS and replace everything they break.

I love in Florida so cold weather isn't an issue. I'm glad to hear my Pede
is a keeper! I thought of a battery solution. At work me and the other
valets have a little counter we hang out it. Underneath there is an
electrical outlet. I could get a few more batteries, and charge them all
while I'm at work. Then the next day I'd have enough juice for like an hour!
I'd like to get some fun out of this Pede before I blow another $400 on a
nitro truck. I need to build a ramp or something too.

Remember that running the truck continuously for long periods will make
your brushes wear out quickly and will also mean you'll have to cut the
commutator more often to give you the best performance from the motor.

I just realized I said, "I love in Florida". I wish that were the case!

Get a few more packs, and rotate them.   I also picked up a second
charger to help keep up with demand when others are running the batts
out on my models.  :-)
