Howdy,

Our County government is allowing use of some land, that belongs to th
Parks and Recreation department, to be used to build an off-road RC ca
track.
They will support the project even further if we can show that it wil
be used.

I would like to hear from people who have been in similar situation
before. We are trying to figure out how to create a club structure t
manage the race program etc... while still being "free" for the ta
payers.

Currently, we do not have a formal "club" per se. But we thinking tha
at some point, we might need to create a club and "adopt" the Count
track facility as a home track. That way, we will be a seperate entit
and maintain financial independence. We can't charge people to use
track that was built using tax payers funds... surely you can see th
situation.

Please chime in if you have some experience with this. It is certainl
a great problem to have as I am sure many people would LOVE to ge
their municipal governments to support RC projects.

Anyway, thanks in advance.

Chris in Atlant

Chris,

I too live in Atlanta and I am a long time racer. Please contact me at
leemuse@bellsout.net to tell me more about the property that the county is
allowing you to use.
