Fuel Leakage

Hi People,

I notice on my Tamiya XBG, that when I open the throttle a little spray of
fuel comes out of the top of the fuel tank. It _looks_ like it is coming out
around the primer button.

I can't see any way to seal it, so my questions are:

1. Is there any way to seal the tank properly?
2. Does anyone know of an aftermarket tank that will fit easily?

Thanks

Mike

it might be there  is to much nitro  in it that might make it  have to
much presser

Many people remove the priming pump from nitro tanks
because of what you are experiencing...air leaks.  If
you want to keep the primer, you'll probably have to
buy a new tank.  I'm assuming it cannot be adequately
repaired by the consumer.
If you're willing to go without the primer:
1) cut the metal primer rod and remove it from the tank
2) thread a screw into the hole left behind...add some
shoe goo or similar around the threads to ensure a
  good seal
3) allow the sealant (shoo goo, etc.) to fully cure
before putting fuel in the tank.

Later,
Scott

Hi Scott,

I have no problem doing without the primer - I already order one of the
Associated bulb primers which sits in line between the tank and carb.

No now my task is to remove the existing primer. Are you saying I should get
some decent set of snips or cutters and basically hack through the primer
where is sits proud of the tank?

Yep:
* cut the spring
* pull the metal rod up as far as possible
* cut metal rod close to the tank
* push the remaining piece into the tank (then
 remove it)

Regarding the shoe-goo/sealant... the temp isn't
the problem, it's the nitro fuel which might "eat"
some silicones.  Whatever sealant you use, you
won't need to use a lot...just a small bead around
the threads or the top of the screw.

Scott

Oh, one further question, what's shoe goo? Could I use some sort of silicon?
Or would the exhaust gas temp in the tank be too much for silicon?

Thanks
