Nitro Engine Smoke

Hello,

My Nitro Car is about a week old now.  I ran it in by running about 5.5
tanks through it at idol speed.  I also drove it very conservatively for
about 5 more tanks.

I drove it a couple more times and everything seemed fine.  When I drove it
yesterday it seemed to be blowing a lot more smoke out of the exhaust pipe
than usual.  this is my first Nitro car so I'm not sure how much smoke there
is supposed to be but it seems more than before.  This doesn't only happen
at full speed but from about 60% up.

Have I done something really bad to the engine?
Is it tuned wrong? If so how can I fix it?
Is it normal?

Thanks

Cam

What car do you have? If its a Traxxas then I suggest you goto the traxxas
forum, if its HPI then goto the HPI forums. You will be sure to get tons of
help from the forums.

Traxxas forum:

HPI forums:

If your car is neither HPI or Traxxas just look for a forum for the brand of
your car.
Or you could check out one of these forums, They are meant to be for savages
but they will help you out.

Sounds like your engine is properly broken in... Now reading your
maunfaturers instructions it is time to start tuning the engine. The
smoke is being caused by a large amount of fuel entering the combustion
chamber. Trun the mixture adjustment screw ( exactly how your
manufacturer tells you ) to tune to the best performance and the
excessive smoke will go away.

DOn't sweat it Cam, its probably just running rich like it's supposed to.
Blue smoke good, no smoke bad! Check your manual and follow the instructions
for leaning it out for power.
