Trinity motor and 1500 battery

I just picked up a "Revenge of the Monster Horsepower Stock" motor and
dropped it into my Championship RC10 buggy (which is still running 1500
Sanyo batteries) and it won't turn!  The electrics are fine (they work
for my old stock motor) and the battery is fully charged - is this a
case of 'time to upgrade'?  I don't want to get a 3000 battery/charger
if that's not the problem...  I just picked it up tonight and the hobby
shop is closed, I'll get a hold of them later this week, but this group
is (9 times out of 10) more helpful! :-)

Thanks all!
M.

BTW - just in case it's important:

A few things.....whenever you take the wire leads off a motor you need
to reset the ESC. Secondly are you sure there's current getting to the
motor? Will your steering work, but no motor? Connect the old motor and
see if it still works. I'm assuming the motor was new.

I have never heard of that one before.
I change motors about 4-5 times a day on race day,
and have never touched the esc...

I have LRP ESC's, and have found weird stuff can happen after you take
the leads off a motor. They are all one touch reset models and have made
a habit of doing a reset after everytime I remove the leads from a motor.

What ESC do you race with?

LRP....
I set it when I installed it in the car... In October.
I've raced every Sunday since then, and changed motors at least 4 times
per race day.... so that is quite a few motor changes.
Have never experienced a speed controller problem...

I've found that after cutting a motor and placing it back in a few
things can happen. The power isn't distributed evenly, meaning you can
have a great high end speed but I lost the initial punch. Also just a
general lack of power throughout the whole throw of the throttle
trigger. How my brakes work and how well can also be affected. Upon
resetting the speed control all goes back to normal.

I wonder why I see this and you don't?

Also if I go from a stock motor to say a 11T I reset it.

Just a follow up - I told the hobby shop what happened and they replaced
the missing brush spring and it fired right up :-)  The motor was so new
that I hadn't even looked at that...

BTW - about the ESC reseting issues, I have an Associated F1 that I had
to reset after changing the motor; I changed to a new motor and it
worked fine, I changed it back to the old motor and it was stuck in
reverse until I reset it.  Oh well :-)

PS - thanks for the info on the batteries (1500 vs 2000, etc) that was
great!

I reset my esc often after changes are made. It is easy, fast, and I feel
more confident that I am not losing out on power/speed.

Beats me. I can't think of any logical reason..

With my really old Novaks, I used to go from stock to modified
and never experienced any problems either.
To be honest, and maybe I'll ask some guys this week, I don't know of
anyone that resets after changing motors.
I set the thing up with no motor... why should it be any different
when you change motors. The speed control doesn't know what's
on the end of those wires, if anything at all.

test engine direct on the battery.

I had reset the speed control when I first plugged it in and I know that
it's working because the steering is responsive, the speed control has a
green light and it works fine for another (older) stock motor.  I tried
connecting the motor directly to the battery and it does a very brief
spin, then nothing (I tried five batteries, nothing after the first
brief spin for any of them!).  The directions said that I didn't have to
do anything to the motor to break it in (it's the stock pro version) so
I think that it's back to the store I go for a replacement...

Any other suggestions are welcome:-)

Upon closer inspection, there is a brush spring missing... I hadn't
taken the motor apart since I bought it and am now wondering if somebody
else had troubles and returned it...  Well, I'll talk with the shop and
hopefully get this resolved.

From what I understand though - there is no problem running a 1500
battery with a NEW Stock motor??

None whatsoever. The difference between a 1500 and say a 2000 is that
the 2000 will hypothetically have more run time with the same motor.

with the 1500 you might get 6 minutes and with a 2000 you might get 8.5
to 9 minutes of run time.

How about motor brushes, are they stuck in hoods?
