I opened my old Tekin speed control and found what I believe is a blown
capacitor.  Does anyone know what to ask for from Radio Shack so that I can
attempt a repair?  I'm already prepared to lose the whole thing, and I have
experience soldering.

You can see pictures at alt.binaries.pictures.radio.control.models

In case you aren't able to find the part you need, here's a post from
a couple of years ago that might be usefu if they're still around.

Thank you for replying, I'll keep that in mind.  I really think I can change
out this cap or diode by myself if I only knew what size to get.

Just a note on Express Tech, they stopped repairing Tekin R/C equippment
last fall, no reason why, just stated they will not repair it anymore.

I was the original poster of the Express Tech message.

If anyone knows someone else that repairs Tekin stuff, I would like to know.

Thanks for the update.  I would hate to have sent that to a defunct service.

Well thanks for all the help.  I solved the problem by blowing the whole
ESC.

For future reference, never fiddle with the pots without a motor attached.
