Baffled and do not know what to do. Had a head on with the girl
friends car, SHE parked it to close to the road!!!!!! After
straightening out the pan, and putting new parts on the front end
things seemed to work well. Then the gears striped out. Got two sets
and the same thing happened to the next pair. Checked the spacing, a
piece of paper. When it spins in the grass the gears kick out where
they come into contact. What could be causing this. The shaft does not
seem to be bent. Everything seems to line up. Runs straight

Worn gears on the clutch bell itself? Especially if they're aluminium. Any
more info on what the car is then you might get a better response and which
gears in particular are stripping.
