David,
I have been assured that Great Vigor trade as "Awesome" here in Australia.
They produce the Mini-R, the Maloo Ute, the holden (or ford I forget which
one) nitro tourer and probably various other stuff.
The only GV nitro I've looked at closely is the Maloo Ute Monster Truck. The
quality is better than my Mini-R but I still wouldn't touch one with a barge
pole. Even if they are good quality you will not have access to all the
thousands of spares and upgrades that are available for all the big name
brands. For example:
You need some clutch shoes? If you're talking HPI, Tam, Ky, a.s, Losi etc
etc, you merely look up Wildhobbies, Tower, or even eBay. If nobody has the
part you need (VERY unlikely) or you want better than the stock part, there
will be aftermarket improved clutch shoes. If you're not sure, there will be
thousands of people on the net who can tell you that the MIP aftermarket
shoes for the Inferno MP7.5 will fit on your Savage Truck. I SCOURED the net
for advice on my Mini-R and found ONE person on the ModelEngines forum who
knew anything about them.
Like I said before, its up to you, but personally I wouldn't buy a GV nitro
even if I was using your money. Even if the quality is top notch (which I'm
not convinced of), if you get one of the non-standard cars you may be out on
a
limb support and upgrade wise.
There are so many great buggies around from the big guys, I don't know why
you would want to take the risk. If its a matter of the dollars being tight,
then I would get an electric instead, since the running costs of nitro are
probably ten times the running costs of electric.
Let me know what you decide.

Hi Mike!
I bought a nitro Tamiya 1/10 XBG Subaru,
which is a good beginner RTR deal.

Hi David,
I think you made a pretty good choice! I have one of the Tamiya XBG series.
They look great, are put together with excellent attention to detail, and
they are super reliable and easy to use.
Hope you enjoy it!
