Normal, actual speeds.
The concept of 'scale speeds' generally turns into a Holy War.

Typical *actual* max speeds for well-sorted race cars might be:
Electric off-road: 20-35 mph
Electric on-road: 30-50 mph
1/8th nitro off-road: 50-70 mph
1/8th nitro on-road: 65-90 mph
1/10th nitro: in the middle somewhere.
A few weeks ago I paced out the indoor, carpet track I was racing on,
and reckoned that my TQ time represented an average speed of about 12
mph - that was a *very* *small* and tight track!
At http://www.bedworthrc.com/ there's a 'speed calculator' which, for
the (12 turn Super Touring) track record of 21/303, shows an average
speed of 26.56 mph.
If anyone mentions speeds over 100 mph, it's either 'scale speed'
(which I think is rubbish as normally quoted - Google for my posts on
this); or they're talking about dragsters, 'Insane Run' cars or other
such 'specials'.
HTH!

We often run twin loops and the speed is calculated using the transponder
signal and the time between the loops .. very accurate, and about what you
say, between 18mph and about 29 mph for off-road buggies on a 'normal'
off-road track.
On-road, using an off-road buggy and police timing gun we have managed 58
mph true speed. 1/10th Losi XXX, using 10 single motor, 9 cells, and hard
rubber tyres with stiff suspension, stupidly high gearing and a long
straight ... We reckon if we had tried hard enough we could have hit 100 ...
but other things stopped us, like our mate had to go back to work and took
his gun with him .. ;)
