When did they go from silver to grey?  Do you think this picture shows
grey or silver:

I think it is silver but I'd like some confirmation.  I want to finish
out my Revell Hunter F.6 in 4 Sqn. colors but don't know about the
bottom.

Thanks,
Jack

Hi Jack,
The bottom is silver.Early sixties the bottom was silver. They changed in the
late 60/early 70 to gloss sea gray medium BS.637.Your modell is an
Mk.F.4,and is silver or called High Speed Silver.I think Nissan silver from
Halford's, is the right paint.HTH. Han Krol, Holland

A quite effective but unfortunately not definitive method is to look at the
roundels, if they are type D i.e. red/white/blue then the chances are the
aircraft will have silver undersides, if they are tactical red/blue
roundels, then it will have grey undersurfaces, as they were usually applied
at the same time as the camouflage repaint.

Happy modelling
Ant
