now I can quit looking for the 1/32 model I would have never built
anyway.   She's gonna hang from my garage ceiling!

whoo whoo!

I have one of the FW 190 D9s.  Now I'm trying to find a place to put it.
LOL

I've got 3 Corsairs. At least their wings fold! :)

Allowing for the 'each to their own' factor, I really do not
see the
point of such large models.
To me the whole idea of modelmaking is to be able to
appreciate aspects
of 3D design  - but in the case of large subjects like shops
or aircraft, they
are surely better fitting within a 'handle-able' cube of
space.

How far back do you need to stand to get an overall
impression of a
1/16 model aircraft? From across the room?
I'd rather be able to hold it in my hand and check the
light-lines and facets instantly,
than be running back and forth trying to do the same thing.

I appreciate the detail 'from the box' is better than the
'standard' scales,
but even so it's not 'that' great. I've made better detailed
1/48 models, and
in the interests of domestic harmony I think I'll
concentrate on better detailing
of small models. I'd rather have small, well-detailed models
than humungous
averagely detailed ones.
A collection? Maybe if you have a house as big as the
average public library ;)
Sorry manufacturers, but for me, size isn't everything.
Detail is.

I buy them because they are great to hang from the ceiling in the
garage. Let em get dusty, who cares. Strong enough to take an
occasional bump and they look great with casual viewing. I got a whole
airforce hanging up there.

I've got the 1/18 scale Corsair, P-40, P38, FW190D, Spitfire, and Stuka all
hanging from my hobbyroom ceiling. It's like a grown-up version of childhood
bedroom ceiling. It always makes me smile when I look up there. My
granddaughter loves it when I lift her up so she can spin the props.
Something I never let her do on my 1/48 scale planes. :)
