Allowing for the 'each to their own' factor, I really do not
see the
point of such large models.
To me the whole idea of modelmaking is to be able to
appreciate aspects
of 3D design  - but in the case of large subjects like shops
or aircraft, they
are surely better fitting within a 'handle-able' cube of
space.

How far back do you need to stand to get an overall
impression of a
1/16 model aircraft? From across the room?
I'd rather be able to hold it in my hand and check the
light-lines and facets instantly,
than be running back and forth trying to do the same thing.

I appreciate the detail 'from the box' is better than the
'standard' scales,
but even so it's not 'that' great. I've made better detailed
1/48 models, and
in the interests of domestic harmony I think I'll
concentrate on better detailing
of small models. I'd rather have small, well-detailed models
than humungous
averagely detailed ones.
A collection? Maybe if you have a house as big as the
average public library ;)
Sorry manufacturers, but for me, size isn't everything.
