Model Forum / General / Models / October 2005I'm visiting Puerto Rico - any suggestions?
I'll be visiting Puerto Rico early November. Does anyone have suggestions regarding modeling or aviation? Shops, museums? I'll be visiting Vieques too, a large part of which was a bombing range, I would like to take a peek, but it appears that part is still a 'no access' area. Thanks in advance for any suggestions! Feel free to drop me an email for some details. The bombing range itself is indeed off limits and probably will be for centuries to come. You can only get within about 2 miles of it by land. (Buffer Zone). If you'll look at some of those aerial photo sites on the web you can see it, its a small area (several hundred acres) at the far eastern tip of the island and looks like a moonscape in the aerial photos. Definitely No-Man's-Land. -Bill M Well the cool thing about Vieques is not only the snorkeling, but go Mosquito Bay at night. Highest concentration of biolumeniescence (probably spelling that wrong) in the world! Ride the electric boat, then swim in it! Really Astounding! --- Tontoni oh forgot too... if you fly by VAL (Vieques Air Link), you may get the chance to ride a rare bird! When I went in the 90's, I took a Britten-Norman Tri-lander! I believe there is little moon next weekend, so the bioluminescence (Google spelling) should be well visible. I won't fly a Trilander though, I plan to take the ferry. It's sorta like Miller Lite, but without the headache. When I was there in 1996, it was $1 per can! Will there be Beisbol yet? Winter baseball played down there is a lot of fun; for very little bux, you can see some major leaguers playing down there. The baseball park in San Juan is now Robert Clemente park, but use be Hiram Bithorn park, or something like that. You can drink Medalla at the game, but you can also get Pina Colada from vendors in the stands, as well as plantain chips.
