Got this link from another newsgroup. I'm almost positive it's fake,

Lol...now that was cool!
I don't know if faked or not, but there was a show on TV last year about the
neat things they were doing with computer controlled Christmas lights, hour
long show....lots of cool things on it.

I'd settle for an old fashioned four color chase light. Back in the
eighties they came out with four color chase lights with a sixteen
pattern modulator. Remember those? About 150 lights long? In the last
five years they cheapened them up to three colors and now you can
hardly find them anymore. Guess I have to fix the few I've got.

Apparently not fake. I saw a comment entry somewhere, some guy live ten
minutes from this.
I think there was some editing to get it synced. Watch the flashing
beacon to the left of the house, and enjoy the music.

Speaking of the music, what's the name of that tune? It's really catchy!

It's called 'Wizards In Winter' by Trans-Siberian Orchestra. It's on
their 'The Lost Christmas' album.

Sounds like Metallica meets Mannheim Steamroller.

Also watch the lights on the grass just in the foreground and you can see
the shadows change, which obviously show a time "time lapse" or jumping. So
it's kinda fake but accurate, in the parlance of our time.

Well some may say its a fake but in reality it is actually quite easy to do.
It works on the same system as disco lights that can change beat and color
buy the beat of the music. its all just computer controlled. all the
different light segments are hooked up to a computer controlled switching
box. the beat of the music would dictate which segments to turn on and off.
the hard part would be in telling the computer which lights to turn on or
off depending on the part of the song that is playing. but it could all be
done easily with computer synchronization. It would be a bear running each
segment of lights to an individual box. That had to be a lot of work!

I'd say the music was added in, it wouldn't be that clean if he was using an
outside speaker. The light reflecting off the house is a nice touch, if it's
faked it's a good job, a lot of work on the back fill.
I'm gonna save it and show it my honey and tell her that's what I've been
trying for.
Shawn McClelland - 26 Nov 2005 16:59 GMT
What I read was it is midi. So I guess you could have a set of lights
for each instrument.

I always wanted to know what people did when they retired from working
on the Las Vegas strip!

Something tells me the neighbors might get a little wigged out when it goes
off. The music sounds light something the Trans Siberian Orchestra might
come up with. They'll be here 30 Dec so I'll let you know if that's one
of theirs.
