Float Plane Display Base

Hi Guys,
I have gotten about 12 different float planes - from the Grumman
Goose, Spruce Goose and several smaller WWII and commercial type - and
would like to know if there is a simple way of making display bases
for float planes without having to bore holes in either the floats or
fuselage.  The scales vary from 1/144 to 1/48th.

Any ideas, techniques and or web sites with pictures will be
appreciated.

Many thanks in advance,

Ray

You can try that wavy looking acrylic used for shower doors.

Ray..."frank" mentioned the acrylic shower door material.  Were you around,
a few years ago; when Tim V. was using that on his small scale ships?  His
technique relied a lot on "artistry", and "tricks"...but it looked *very*
nice, and was quite effective.  He demonstrated it at a few ASMS meetings.
His "trick" was to have the smooth face of the acrylic sheet as the *top*
surface, with the "wavy" side as the bottom.  When painted (the bottom/wavy
side painted and shaded/highlighted...the smooth/top surface left
clear) ...it looked quite good.

How about replicating some beaching gear, with or without wheels?
