Is there a reason that the bottle is milky and not clear?

Thats the natural colour of Polyeythelene which is used for glue bottles.
Most of the optically transparent plastics would be either affected by the
glue or too brittle to be squeezed repeatedly. Also CA doesn't stick to it
Polyeythelene is also good at low tempretures so you can keep the bottle in
the fridge which prolongs the glue's shelf life.
