However, they are also USN style, with the thermal coating. I think the
USAF style nose plug is also different.

There are actually three different noze plugs that I know of that can go
in them - the "pointed" one like Black Box has, a blunt round one, and a
flattish conical one. The first two are Navy, and I believe the third
is USAF. Check pictures.
You can always sand the thermal coating smooth if you need to. Sand
circumfrntially vise lengthwise to get the best effect.

That's true, the blunt one with the flat areas is USAF style. Also, the
blunt round style seems to be more common on the USN style bombs than the
pointed one. You could sand the rough coating, but all of the resin bombs
have the body strake molded on, so you'll have to be careful sanding the
warhead body visible through the holes in the strake package.
