Was this kit ever released by Testors? Weren't the Gee Bee's and the Travel
Air Mystery originally Hawk kits?

Yes and yes. All started as Hawk and the molds were purchased by
Testor's. In fact, I've seen ads in old "Air Trails" magazines from the
later 1940s that indicate that the Curtiss racer started life as the
land version and the floats were added later. I did a conversion years
ago but never realized until later that I was just undoing what Hawk
had done.
