Hi all,
I'm new to this group & hope you could help me with some websites...
I am laid off work with a back injury at the moment and to help pass
the days without getting square eyes infront of t'interweb, I decided
to try something different, having always had an interest in ww1 & ww2
I bought a Tamiya 1/35 BMW R75 Motorcycle with Sidecar from e-bay,
nothing to big and fancy, just something to pass the hours...i've
always admired the attention to detail and realism a good modeller can
achieve...so I''m giving it a go : )
Can you reccomend any good sites on t'interweb that deal with building
and painting techniques, I'm in no rush to get the model finished, and
definately want to make a good job of it, I have oodles of patience
(and time : ( ) so I'm willing to try intermediate skills as well. Any
help will be appreciated...Cheers David

That little 1/35 BMW R75 Motorcycle an Sidecar is just one of the
nicest little Kits out there. I have about 5 of them still left to
build and about 6 of the Kits with the Two Motorcycles in them and
i've still got 4 Kettenrads as well. That does not take into account
all of the many German Armour Kits in Boxes that have to be Built
but I digress. ......... The BMW R75 with that Sidecar builds really
very easy. Just remember that it's ALL small parts which don't need
much glue on them. I haven't any doubt you have very good skills with
the tube of glue. I mentioned that about there being lots of little part
for the ones who have never seen this Kit yet.
It's really a beautifully little compact Kit that has lots of detail and
realism to it when finished and painted. I had put together a figure in
the Sidecar with a Bazooka and one on the second seat holding two
rockets , sitting just behind the drive. It looked really good too when
done alas last year it was it got wrecked when it fell of my shelf and
hit the floor.
I should build another one now while i'm thinking about it. I think that
I will start a new one next week to do the very same
thing over again and put it in a diorama.

Thanx for the encouragement and the heads up on the FAQ, looks like I
will find most of what I need there or pointers to elsewhere... I
bought this particular kit because it has so many different elements to
it, the figures and the combi, I have a love of combi's too, the amount
of engineering that has gone into making something so wrong, so
right...It just seems like something that should never have been, but
then Necessity is the Mother of Invention
Cheers all, David

Wingnut offered me a plate of cheese and whispered:

And you can always ask specific questions here. I've always found the
denizens of this group to be wonderfully helpful and generous.

I wear the cheese. It does not wear me.
