Hi Troops:

I have my agitator's hat on tonight. Lets have a poll on what is the
stupidest show on TV. My vote is for "Wifeswap"!

Not exactly a show, but more the response to an ad by our (Australian)
Tourism - I have never seen so many tight arsed whinging sheilas bitch
and carry on about "bloody" and "hell".

Sorry Wayne, but I'm on their side on that one. There's enough crude
language about (and I use it more often than I should) without it being
used as a way of promoting a great country.

The use of "Bloody" and "Hell" in Oz is _not_ crude.

It has been accepted as suitable for general usage in this country for
well over a century, perhaps not in the parlour, but certainly on the
veranda.

There's so much crap on TV that it'd be easier (and shorter) to list the
worthwhile programs.
I'm happy that "Out Of Practice" is back on and to make it better it
kicked "Still Standing" off.  I tried to like the last but the
characters were just too pettily despicable.  OOP has a lot of the same
people in the background that worked on "Frasier".

They had the first two shows last week. Nice intro, sorta who the doctor is
and where he comes from, and the girl he's taking along. Seemed fairly
typical on the plotlines, cheesy but fun. The effects were also good in the
fakey Dcotor Who vein. I imagine CGI will help that a bit.

Most of my goodies are SciFi, Stargate, Alantis, BSG. The Shield and 24 are
the other make time for shows.

TCM gets a peek all the time just in case. And Cartoon Network's Adult Swim.
Other than that CSI or L&O for background noise. Rest of it is brainless
dreck.

The new season of Doctor Who is very good indeed.  I reckon that Christpher
Eccleston really nailed the character of the Doctor with his first line.
"Please to meet you Rose Tyler. Run for your life!"

There are some good episodes coming up, although if you can, try and switch
it off just as the final credits roll.  Each episode has spoilers for the
next episode. And one episode has the biggest spolier in the title. You'll
know it when you see it. Just imagine the fan reaction if they had banned
all spoliers and titled the episode "A Voice In The Wilderness".

And watch out for the Bad Wolf.

Yeah, good shows would be a shorter list.
Saw that here in the states, showed two episodes on Sci-fi last Friday.
Was pretty good, but in my opinion Tom Baker was the best Dr Who.

I'm going to go with an entire category of shows. The category that you will
find celebrity gossip pandered about:  Entertainment Tonight, Inside, Inside
Edition, the E! Channel,  etc.

Biggest waste of broadcast bandwidth in the US.

You, sir, have a big point there!  I don't care who's having who's baby
in Hollywood nor who's marrying whom.
When Excess Hollywood Tonight is on I'm watching "Jeopardy!"

Not pointing to anyone inparticular, but the sad thing is how many
folks have so little to do as to spend time in front of the tube
watching crap like that.  Now and again I watch "The Soup" on E (yeah,
I know what you're thinking) which pokes fun at shows like that, and it
amazes me at the proliferation of absolute mindless, bone numbing,
lowest common denominator, CRAP being shown on TV.  Makes me feel like
a bonafide intellect building models in my shop.

After years of declining interest, this season I've more or less given
up on tv.I watch old movies on DVD and on rare occasions Nova and
Secrets of the Dead on PBS.I don't even bother having cable.
So to me the answer would be "All of the above"

24 and Monday Night Football is about all I tune in for on the broadcast
networks, and even 24 hasn't been that good since Season 2. MNF is moving to
ESPN so the prospects are dwindling even more.

On the cable/SAT channels, Battlestar Galactica and the Cable News are about
it. Used to watch the History Channel quite a bit but I find myself covering
familiar territory too much.

I'm definitely in support of the propsed "a la carte programming"
legislation currently being considered.  I could get by with about a half to
a dozen channels and no more.

That is what I would support - I find myself surprised over and over again
when some new channel shows up and then find out it has been available for a
couple of months!

:        I have my agitator's hat on tonight. Lets have a poll on what is the

Anything on ABC/NBC/CBS/FOX with the exception of
"Bones" - the only broadcast show I watch from the 4.

Anything on The History Channel. Jeez, do some
basic research on the subject, eh?

Anything dealing with UFOs, Atlantis and/or psychics.

Anything dealing with redneck racin' aka NASCAR. Not
that NASCAR is bad, but it is oversaturated, overhyped and
I don't like any of the drives today. So, out with The
NASCAR Network, err The Speed Channel.

Anything dealing with poker. Gaa!!! Its as bad as
NASCAR in terms of hype and saturation.

Anything that is a so-called "reality show". What a
patently absurd farce those things are.

Anything that shows pro basketball, hockey or baseball.
The NBA is amazingly well described by the description of
the balhog in "Bored of the Rings", hockey thinks it has
to be "brawling on ice" and baseball - spit, scratch,
stare, spit, scratch, pitch. Repeat. Ugh!

Dr. Who - so far, so good, with 2 episodes down. Billie
Piper passes the optical test, and the new doctor is, I
think, much better than the two that followed Tom Baker.
I thought the ipod gag was great.
