Group, I have a Badger 200 airbrush used for scale models. For the last few years I have been using Testor's propellants but as one knows the cost can add up quickly. I went to buy a Testor's mini compressor but the hobby store said any compressor will do. I own a Porter Cable 135 PSI pancake compressor. What do I need to get in order to hook my Badger airbrush to the compressor? I know I need some type of adapter but can't seem to find it at Home Depot or Lowe's. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I have been using that soft black irrigation hose they use for drippers ,it fits onto the Iwata hose tail perfectly, and with the low pressures involved is quite adequate. I should be more specific. The Porter Cable compressor comes with a quick connect adapter that connects to an air hose that powers my nail gun. Assuming I find an adapter I also have to think about how it will connect to the Badger. Presently the Badger has a 1/4'' threaded fitting. Thoughts? I too have a compressor that came with a nail gun ( a smaller brad nailer, actually), and was able to adapt the Badger connector at the end of the air hose to a quick connect adapter. So I can use the airbrush or the nailer with the compressor. I don't recall exactly what I used, I just took the airbrush hose with me to Home Depot and found what fit. Both threads are very similar with only a half or one thread difference and over a short distance one will fit the other. You should be able to pick one up from a plumbing supply or hardware or maybe even an auto shop. .I know with my Aztek I got a 1/4" adaptor with hose tail in the box with the set. As I said before in my previous post I use the black soft irrigation dripper hose its about 1/8" and fits onto the tail nicely and fits onto the fitting for the Iwata airbrush .I have found that it blew off once when I accidently screwed the regulator up to 40 psi, other than that I dont have it clamped.I would use some of those small electrical cable ties for a clamp, Pan Ties they are called here. That was several years ago but may still hold true. They had everything. The outlet of the compressor is 1/4" NPT ( national pipe thread). Miraculously, so is the inlet of the badger hose, as is Paasche. Go to discount tool stores like Harbor Freight, Sears,Hobby Lobby, hobby shops, military surplus stores or welding supply and get a small regulator and water trap,or regulator/water trap combined and a pressure guage that covers 0-50 psi in small increments. You need enough 1/4" close nipples (2 or 3) to screw it all together, one for the outlet and zippity-doodah, go shoot some paint. |
