Google has not been very helpful, as so far I have only encountered
vacuum forming - I am interested in this also.

What I am looking for relates to casting solid pieces to replace damaged
and broken kit pieces using some sort of mold.

Primarily, the capstan on one of my projects disintegrated, but other
parts have suffered from the black floor, carpet and the worm-hole.

There have been many previous threads on RTV or resin casting, one not
very long ago.  I might immodestly mention an article I did in FSM a
couple of years ago :-)

Not sure which arguments you used in your google search, but  try
again, use;
casting, resin, molds, and maybe rtv.

Thanks.  Using the above keywords, I found Tap Plastics that have some
instructional videos for their product, but I believe I have got the
idea from that.

Yes. The more specific your keywords the better. Remember that
scratchbuilding is not a single technique, but a collection of techniques
aimed at building a scale model without using prefabricated pieces.
Resin casting is one technique, but you can also shape solid blocks of
wood, plastic, plaster or metal, use plasticard, etc.

I knew I had that issue, Nov 2002, page 30.
