Is there a marketplace newsgroup associated with this one?

Some newsgroups I read have an associated "marketplace" newsgroup for
announcements of related items for sale. I don't see anything like
that, that would be proper for posting of announcements related to
scale models, at least not in my news server's list of groups.

This is kind of frustrating to me as I often have announcements
regarding our kits, sale items, etc. that I expect would be of
interest to rec.models.scale regulars, but I don't want to get flagged
as a spammer by posting announcements where they are not wanted.

Yeah, I can include little announcements in my .sig file (as below),
but I usually just lurk in this group without posting, because I am
not much of a model-builder myself; my Dad is the model builder for
our business, I just got into it to help him with eBay sales and set
up our website.

Any suggestions on a proper newsgroup for this type of announcement
related to scale model kits?

Chuck!

Hyperscale has a number of discussion groups and one of them is a
sale/trade listing. If you haven't found Hyperscale, it is run out of
Australia by Brett Green and is a really nice operation.

Thanks, Bill. I have visited Hyperscale forums a few times in the past
when a customer notified me of questions or discussion about one of
our kits, but I am not a regular over there by any means. I will make
sure to post some notices about our August Sale and the new kits
coming out!

I don't have any problem with you posting advertising information to this
group (as long as the subject makes it clear that it is an ADV). Others post
eBay auction notices so I can't see the problem.

Others might have a different opinion.

OK, I guess I can give it a try and see if anyone screams. I do lurk
here enough to have some idea who are regulars and who are just
political trolls.

In some other newsgroups I read, we regard "FA" and "FS" posts as
something of an off topic annoyance, so I have been hesitant to make
posts like that here.

OK, Al, I'll run something up the flagpole and see if anyone takes
shots at it!

I think you said you are going to Nationals in KC this week? I hope
you can drop by our table and say Hi!

Two suggestions, though:

First, avoid posting ads more than once or twice a week, lest someone
accuse you of spamming.

Second, when you post any kind of ad, include an appropriate tag at the
beginning of the header line.  The most common tags are:

 [AD]
 [FS]
 [EBAY]
 [AUCTION]

"FS" stands for "For Sale".  The others should be obvious.

Yes, there is a news group called rec.models.scale.marketplace , but I
don't think anyone uses it anymore.
Just looking at it there is about six posts, mostly dickhead
spammers.Only one on topic post and two replies.

I don't even see that one in my group list. Guess I'll have to request
that Newsguy add it to their servers.

I found one way up north in alt territory, called
alt.models.scale.marketplace, but it appears totally dead, except for
the kind of trash that you mention. Not even a single on-topic post
that I could see. I went ahead and posted an announcement there
anyway.

Thanks for the info.
