I'm working on my first Guillows balsa kit, the P51-D Mustang kit #402.

I've reached the part where the M1 and M2 fillet parts need to be added
where the wings' leading and trailing edges meet the fuselage. IMHO,
the plans are a bit unclear as to where these fillets actually go, and
which way they are supposed to face.

Can anyone tell me where these parts actually go?

Thanks,
Michael

I don't know how many posters to this newsgroup build in balsa -- most of us
are plastic modelers AFAIK. All I can offer is the following address for
some decent line drawings of a P-51D, which may be of help for determining
which pieces go where:

Actually, I DO build the Guillows models, but build them for shelf
scale. I cover them with plastic sheet or card stock to simulate metal.
Unfortunately, I just pitched my P51 'cause I made some bad goofs, so
I don't have the plans anymore to refer to the parts mentioned.

The Guillows are a fine starting point for a large scale display model,
but one must do a lot of scratch building for detail parts, and on some
the tails are too large and need to be scratched.  I am working on
their B-25, which I have converted to the navy patrol bomber version.
I found some fine resin engines in the proper scale.
