The Internet Modeler just did a review of some 1/72 F-8 Crusader conversions
but has no contact info for this company. Anyone have any info on this
outfit and where to contact them. The AFFTC at Edwards has some info but the
women that works does not really want to help and she will not give out any
info on Muroc Models.

I was just about to ask a similar question!

I wear the cheese. It does not wear me.

Chris (IM Editor) and I have had this conversation a couple times.

The only place that  we know of that sells the Muroc model kits is the AFFTC
gift shop.   When we did the review on the Skywarrior prototype kit a long
time ago we went through the contact thing and it seems to me that we said
at that time the gift shop was the sole contact.

They are truly nice kits, and it is a shame they are not more readily
available.  I think the Crusader stuff might just be popular enough to make
somebody in the retail world attempt to market them.

Muroc Models is David Newman. I hate to post his email in the clear
where the spambots can get it, so here it is converted by rot13:
qarjzna@vfcjrfg.pbz - or you can email me and I'll email it back to
you if you don't grok rot13 (remove the nospam from my email for
reply).

Hello,

I am sorry I forgot to send the needed information to Chris of IM.  The
best way to buy my kits is by calling Doug (or Ilah) Nelson at the
AFFTC Museum (Edwards AFB) at (661) 277-8050 on Tuesday to Saturday
from 9 am to 5 pm.  They may have been unsure about pricing when you
first called.

Most of my kits are made as part of a 1/72nd scale museum display of
every thing that has had its first flight at Edwards.  When you buy
from the museum, most or all of the money goes to support the museum, I
don't make anything from museum sales.  I vend at a number of shows in
Calif. (Kit Collectors, Kick Off Classic, Antelope Valley Group and
Kings County) and sometimes at the Nats.  I do keep the money from
these sells.

I know it can be hard to get a hold of my kits.  This means I can spend
more time on new projects and less time in the garage pouring resin.  I
am including my email address in the plans of my newer kits.  I read
the space-modelers group at yahoo and Hyperscale more often than I read
RMS.

Here is a list of my kits and conversions-

1/72nd
X-32 vertical tail fins, X-36, JF-104 conversion, XA3D-1 conversion,
F-15 RPRV, Hyper III, X-38, F-100 ZEL conversion, JB-1 Flying Wing,
JB-1A, AD-1 Oblique Wing, F-8A SCW conversion, F-8A conversion, F-8C
conversion, F-8C Digital Fly-By-Wire conversion, HiMAT
1/144th
X-2, X-1A, EB-29 conversion, X-38, J-93 pod for B-58

I also do anumber of ALPS-printed decals and photo CDs.

David
