I have been looking at reviews of kits in various scales of this
aircraft. Would I be correct that the 1/32 kits correctly show the rear
lower of the engine and accessories through the wheel well bay?
Assuming this is correct are their any drawings available that show this
area that I can use to consider adding this detail to smaller scale kits?

Thanks in advance

For your search, try using this as your designation, might yield more
results:

Fw 190D-9

While not 100% sure, I believe the newest version of the Hasegawa Fw
190D-9 is still missing that equipment bay behind the engine. IIRC,
Cutting Edge made a set for this.

In fact the wheelwells in the newer Hasegawa 'D-9 kit *do* include the
lower-rear part of the engine and its equipment bay.

Thanks Charles,
I will check out on-line reviews about that kit, the kit I bought was
the Academy one which doesn't have that detail which I thought I should try
to replicate.

If you are modelling in 1/48, may I suggest the MDC sets?

There are a number of sets available.

Wheel well correction:

Exterior:

Or you can get 'em all in one job lot:

I have used the full suite and can highly recommend it.

Actualy I am modeling in 1/72 though I do have the ocational 1/48 kit as
well. I find that larger kits will incorperate more detail that the smaller
scales will leve out due to mold constraints.
