I'm working on a Bristol Bulldog and am looking for paint color and
brand suggestions for the silver dope color on British 'Between the
Wars-era" aircraft.

Thanks in advance,

Martin

Floquil Old Silver works well. Pete

Alclad Aluminum with a small drop of Aircraft Gray added to the paint cup to
tone it down a bit.

Try using SnJ Spray Metal Aluminum or Platinum both would make
excellent choices.

Tamiya TS-30 "Silverleaf" in a spray can works very well.

I also find Tamiya's Gloss Aluminum works fine for replicating doped
fabric finishes.

I find that plain old Testors spraybomb silver has just the right dullness
to look like weathered doped fabric. You can use SNJ powder to buff up the
highlights if you want.

I use the Testors Model Master non-buffing aluminum metallizer.  This is
available in spray cans or bottles for airbrushing. I use Future to seal it
and apply decals, then a final coat of future mixed with Tamiya flat base to
give it a semi-gloss finish.
