Any motor racing modellers out there might be familiar with Australian
racing legend Peter Brock... The equivalent version of the late Dale
Ernhart, 9 times winner of the Bathurst 1000 and 3 time Australian Touring
Car Champion... He died about an hour ago in a special tarmac stage of a
rally in Western Australia... age 61.

RIP Brockie

Saw a headline on The Onion yesterday:
"Australia's 'Stingray Hunter' says, 'It Should Have Been Me'"

Is this the same Pete Brock who built racing Datsun 240-Zs and 510s in
the early '70s?

I remember Revell produced a red, white, and blue racing 240-Z and a
similarly marked racing 510 around 1973.  I thought the 240-Z was a
really advanced kit because it included tubing to represent the engine
ignition wires.  Revell also produced a yellow custom Datsun 510 named
"Brockbuster" around 1974.  I thought these were really outstanding
kits back then and represented some of the very few car kits in my
collection consisting mostly of aircraft subjects.

Thanks for the memories Pete

No, he was Australian - raced mainly Holden (that's GM) vehicles, and
was *never* known as "Pete", always as "Peter", frequently as "Peter
Perfect".

Thanks for clarifying that point Gary.

I think they've been rereleased lately. I built the 240z kit. really
nice looking, and as you say, detailed.

New to using acrylics.
What can be used to thin these paints and still retain a good gloss shine?
I've read these should be thinned to a milk-like thickness for airbrush use,
I'm using a badger 350/co2 bottle set-up.

What pressure is reccommended for a gloss finish?

Thanks......Stan

Story in today's Seattle Times on the Kirkland Concourse d'Elegance this
weekend mentions that Peter Brock, Australian race car driver and TV
personality was to be one of the honorary judges.   Condolences to his
family, friends, and fans.

conducting combat operations in Al Anbar province, Iraq.

In the long history of the world, only a few generations have been
granted the role of defending freedom in its hour of maximum danger.
I do not shrink from this responsibility -- I welcome it.
