For those who may be unaware, the Jeff Wayne album was recently remixed in
surround sound to coincide with the release of the Spielberg movie. It works
on practically any surround settup and costs no more than the regular stereo
CD. It really is a huge improvement over the original.

Given a choice between listening to Jeff Wayne's album and watching the
Spielberg disaster, guess which one I'd choose?

I wear the cheese. It does not wear me.

I actually really liked the Martian war machines, they were 'right' -
no wheels, axles, etc, all sliding plates - they even showed the
Martians in the cellar puzzled over the bicycle wheel.

Certain images were good - the burning train was excellent, and the
tripods appearing over the hill at the ferryport was just perfect.

But, yeah, overall, basically... hmm...

I preferred Happy Feet :-)

Except when the train passed through the crossing there was absolutely no
reaction from the large crowd on either side, as if they see a burning train
hurtle through a crossing every day of the week.

It's like what Elvis Mitchell said about King Kong--Jackson was so busy
whipping up the bugs that he forgot to make a movie. I know that all
the time I was hoping to see the stars sitting in a basement TALKING
and TALKING and TALKING instead of that boring action crap.
